Reports to: Director of Operations, Maintenance Supervisor

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Effective Date: July 2026

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Performs various skilled and unskilled tasks in the construction, maintenance service, and repairs of SCE facilities, including but not limited to vehicle maintenance, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, and electrical. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in the auto mechanic trade industry. May require a high school diploma and 2-4 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Fleet Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

i) Oil and filter changes

ii) Brake and rotor replacement

iii) Tire rotation, repair, and replacement

iv) Lubrication and greasing of components

v) Preventative maintenance services (PMs) in accordance with manufacturer and organizational schedules

2. Recordkeeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance, inspections, and repairs performed on fleet vehicles and equipment. Ensure documentation is properly logged in maintenance tracking systems or other approved formats.

3. Equipment Inspection and Reporting: Inspect vehicles and equipment regularly to identify mechanical issues, safety hazards, or defective components. Promptly report any malfunctions, damage, or concerns to supervisors, along with recommended corrective actions.

4. Operational Knowledge of Fleet: Maintain a working knowledge of all vehicles and heavy equipment within the fleet, including proper operation, maintenance requirements, and safety standards.

5. Small Engine Repair: Diagnose, maintain, and repair small engines (e.g., lawn equipment, generators, and other power tools) to ensure reliable performance and longevity.

6. Support Equipment Handling and Transport: Assist with the safe loading and unloading of heavy equipment onto and from trucks and trailers. Ensure proper securing and handling procedures are followed to prevent damage or injury.

7. Winter operations, Mandatory Snow removal, and/or plowing. These operations may be conducted outside the technician's normal scheduled shifts.

8. Any other duties as required by Management.

Employment Standards:

1. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

2. May be required to have own mechanics tools.

3. All tools and equipment provided by Saw Creek Estates are to be used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and established safety procedures. Maintenance technicians are responsible for using these tools properly, maintaining them in good working condition, and returning them to their designated storage areas after use. Any damaged, malfunctioning, or missing tools must be reported to a supervisor promptly to ensure timely repair or replacement.

4. Must be in S.C.E.C.A.-issued uniform while on duty

5. Attendance at maintenance-related seminars/training classes as required by their Supervisor and/or Director of Operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

2. Frequently required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear and smell.

3. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and at times loud when operating equipment.

4. Work is performed inside and outside with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable situations.

HAZARDS OF JOB:

1. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of electrical shock, and vibration.

2. Must occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects.

3. Construction job site activities, which may include walking, climbing, and bending, in a normal construction environment. This may include exposure to the natural elements, dust, insects, and conditions that could be hazardous or dangerous relative to construction sites.

4. The nature of the work also requires the employee to climb on ladders, use power, noise, and vibrating-producing tools and equipment, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, and work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions which subjects the employee to traffic, mechanical, and electrical hazards. Incumbents may be required to work at heights, underground, and in tight spaces.

5. Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.

6. Throughout the winter season works with and operates snow removal equipment, (plows, cinder spreaders, snow throwers, and shovels) during cold, snowy, icy, slippery, and otherwise extreme weather-related conditions. This may lead to fatigue, exhaustion, back injuries from shoveling, frostbite, and slips/falls.

7. Outdoor operations throughout the spring, summer, and fall present hazards from extreme rainy, and stormy weather. During these conditions, employees may be subject to heavy shoveling, raking, and moving of wet, heavy material from ditches and roadways. Operation of equipment, (chainsaws, pry bars, air compressors for jackhammering attachments) in stormy weather requires caution when using

8. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but is not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, high-visibility vests and hard hats.

9. Employees are expected to dress appropriately for the specific conditions and environments in which they are working. Maintenance technicians frequently perform tasks both indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather conditions, equipment hazards, and physical work environments. As such, employees must wear clothing and protective gear that supports both safety and job performance. At all times, technicians must wear proper footwear, such as sturdy, closed-toe work boots with slip-resistant soles and adequate ankle support, to help prevent injuries while walking on uneven surfaces or working around equipment.
