Job Title: IBM WebSphere Administrator
Location: Atlanta, GA
Job Description:
- We are seeking a highly skilled WebSphere Administrator with expertise in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), WebSphere Liberty, and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platforms.
- The ideal candidate will manage middleware infrastructure, support enterprise integration solutions, perform performance tuning, and ensure high availability across mission‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- WebSphere Traditional (WAS) Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain WebSphere ND, Deployment Manager, Node Agents, and application servers.
- Configure clusters, JDBC providers, JMS resources, data sources, and application deployments.
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, secure communication, and keystore/truststore configurations.
- Monitor system health, session management, workload distribution, and high-availability setups.
- Troubleshoot JVM, thread dumps, logs, application issues, and infrastructure components.
WebSphere Liberty Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain WebSphere Liberty servers, server.xml configuration, feature management, and environment setups.
- Enable Liberty runtime features, logging, tuning, security configuration, and microservices-based deployments.
- Deploy Java EE/web applications and ensure adherence to lightweight Liberty architecture.
- Integrate Liberty into CI/CD workflows and container platforms (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
- ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) Administration
- (Applicable to IBM Integration Bus (IIB), IBM ACE, IBM ESB, Mule ESB, or similar ESB platforms.)
Core ESB Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support ESB middleware environments used for enterprise service integration.
- Manage message flows, mediation modules, endpoints, service orchestrations, and adapters.
- Configure and troubleshoot SOAP/REST services, JMS messaging, MQ queues, HTTP/HTTPS endpoints, and transformation logic.
- Maintain ESB artifacts such as modules, SCA components, mediation flows, and integration services.
- Implement ESB routing, message transformation, protocol bridging, and error‑handling strategies.
- Monitor ESB performance, message throughput, bottlenecks, and persistent storage.
- Deploy BAR files (IIB/ACE), mediation modules (WESB), or integration apps depending on platform.
- Manage versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment of integration components.
Integration & MQ
- Support IBM MQ objects: queues, channels, topics, SVRCONN, listeners, and security.
- Ensure reliable message delivery, persistence, and high-availability configurations.
- Environment Support & DevOps
- Automate processes using Ansible, Terraform, shell, or Python.
- Integrate application servers and ESB into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
- Configure monitoring with Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
- Support Linux/Unix environments for application and middleware hosting.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for production support and issue resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years of experience administering WebSphere Application Server (WAS ND).
- 3 years of experience with WebSphere Liberty.
- 3 years of experience working with an ESB platform (IBM ESB, IIB/ACE, Mule ESB, TIBCO, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Java EE stack, middleware architectures, SOAP/REST services, and JMS.
- Experience in SSL/TLS, certificates, certificates management, and secure communication setup.
- Strong troubleshooting of JVM, heap dumps, ESB message flows, and integration issues.
- Expertise in Linux/Unix administration and automation scripting.
- Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, or OpenShift is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- IBM certifications for WebSphere, Liberty, Integration Bus, or ESB technologies.
- Experience with cloud-native deployments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Strong understanding of microservices, service mesh, and API gateway patterns.
- Experience with MQ clustering and high availability.
