Position Details

Savion is seeking a self-starting and highly motivated Manager of Risk & Insurance to help evolve our comprehensive corporate risk approach from conceptual stage to value-add business strategy capability. This position will work directly with all areas of the business and have high exposure to senior management as they implement tools and processes that will enable the business to identify, quantify, analyze, and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

The candidate will report to the Director HSSE. The candidate will be asked to lead meetings and workstreams across all areas of the company and coordinate with external stakeholders and third parties. Specific responsibilities include:

Insurance Program Management

  • Own and manage the company’s insurance portfolio across the entire asset lifecycle from development, construction, and commissioning through commercial operation ensuring full alignment between risk exposure, coverage, and corporate strategy.
  • Lead the company’s insurance renewal process, including broker coordination, risk evaluation, policy negotiation, cost analysis, and final program structure,
  • consistently driving optimal cost efficiency while improving coverage and policy alignment.
  • Analyze and quantify insurance exposures in collaboration with insurance brokers to determine adequate coverage.
  • Partner with project managers to advise on and approve contractual risk transfer strategies with business partners, while minimizing the risk transferred to the company by its partners.
  • Manage the end-to-end insurance claims process for all lines of coverage, including workers’ compensation, and serve as part of the organization’s initial incident response team, coordinating closely with Health & Safety to ensure timely reporting, documentation, and risk assessment for any potential loss events.
  • Oversee the administration and documentation of the company’s insurance business records.

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Maintain the company’s risk management framework to support proactive identification, tracking, mitigation, and executive-level visibility of strategic, operational, and contractual risks across all business units.
  • Facilitate the company’s strategic risk management process in close coordination with executive leadership; lead annual risk appetite calibration exercises, align risk assessment with business objectives and KPIs, and conduct quarterly interviews with each executive to identify, assess, and track enterprise risks. Consolidate this data into a living risk register, heat map, and action tracker used to guide risk-informed decision-making at the executive level.
  • Develop and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with executive management to identify, assess, prioritize, and monitor strategic risks throughout the organization.
  • Track and report on progress towards risk mitigation goals, ensuring clear communication with senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive management, project managers, and insurance brokers.
  • Stay informed of evolving risk management trends and best practices within the renewable energy industry.

Project Portfolio Risk Management

  • Partner with project managers to assess and treat risks across all portfolio projects, including both insurance and non-insurance risk treatments.
  • Provide training and guidance to project managers on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation techniques.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in the insurance industry is required
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is required
  • Graduate degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • Must have good analytical, decision-making, communication, creative problem-solving, and human relations skills.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and in group settings.
