Job Summary:
The Sr Director, Information Technology Enterprise Infrastructure plans, designs, and directs all aspects of the organization’s technical infrastructure, service desk and desktop support for corporate and retail operations and the Information Technology Department operational activities. The position works closely with company senior management to provide direction, implementation, and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. This position is responsible for all data center facilities, hardware and operation, LAN/WAN networking across the enterprise, cloud platforms – AWS, Azure and Google, plus systems within our infrastructure and out to our partners, where we have electronic data interchange.
The position develops and manages IT service portfolios for each business unit/department, to include the development of service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The Sr Director, Information Technology Enterprise Infrastructure is responsible for providing vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives across all areas of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead the formulation and deployment of long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies
- Define and establishes IT Department operational and strategic planning, goals, objectives, and operating procedures
- Contribute to and assists with the implementation of the departmental technology roadmap; plan changes to staffing and infrastructure as required
- Assess and facilitate the communication of risks associated with IT architectures, procedures, staffing, and investments
- Assess and proposes the emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the organization that will significantly impact the enterprise
- Strike an appropriate balance between lean and cost effective IT Operations versus efficient, effective IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by monitoring service/performance levels, fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization
- Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry; advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their impact
- Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and all levels of the organization as well as external entities, including government, vendors, partner organizations, competitor
- Project & Program Management
- Manage simultaneous large-scale projects with an emphasis towards defect free, on- time and on-budget completion
- Provide consultation/expertise on complex projects and other IT activities
- Direct the development, ongoing maintenance, and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan
- Fiscal Management
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives
- Facilitate the review of hardware and software acquisition and maintenance Contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale
- Identify and proposes opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including improvements, re-engineering, staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development
- Own and manage an expanded enterprise IT operating budget inclusive of infrastructure, Service Desk, and Desktop Support. Responsible for financial planning, forecasting, cost optimization, vendor spend governance, and ROI analysis across end-user services, infrastructure platforms, and operational tooling
- IT Infrastructure & Operations Management
- Manage telecom, networking, database administration, platform engineering, collaboration engineering, virtualization, data continuity and integrity, and data center operations
- Oversee the critical path level management of resources and systems
- Develop and implements operating departmental methodologies that insure smooth, professional, and responsive IT operations
- Service Desk and Desktop Management
- End-to-end ownership of an 18x7 enterprise Service Desk, including staffing model, shift coverage, escalation paths, and service continuity across all business hours.
- Lead Tier 1 Service Desk and Tier 2 Desktop Support supporting all users and their devices, owning SLA's, escalations, and end-user experience
- Oversee enterprise endpoint lifecycle management, including provisioning, deployment, patching, security remediation, standardization, and decommissioning
- Manage mobile and specialized device programs (phones, tablets, kiosks, and eCommerce devices) ensuring cost efficiency, availability, and operational readiness
- Establish and maintain asset management standards, hardware refresh strategies, and lifecycle planning across end-user technologies
- Ensure rapid deployment and reliable support for key commerce technologies like Amazon Seller, Amazon Retail Kiosk, Instacart, Flashfood, and iAuditor while minimizing risk and downtime
- Team Leadership
- Perform leadership/management functions of IT infrastructure staff: recruitment, development, retention, mentoring of management, career path development, annual performance evaluations
- Lead and develop global, multi-time-zone teams across onshore and offshore delivery models, including infrastructure engineering, NOC, Service Desk, and Desktop Support. Responsible for workforce planning, operational coverage models, leadership development, performance management, and sustaining high engagement while supporting 24x7 operations.
