TITLE: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
DEPARTMENT: MANUFACTURING
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER

Job Summary
Supervise employees to ensure scheduling and quality requirements are met in an organized, timely and efficient manner; requisition materials; and provide ongoing training.
Essential Duties And Functions
Supervise daily activities of assigned employees, meeting production demand and maintaining quality standards.
Schedule production in a manner that will maintain a continuous workflow, meet required due dates, and minimize scrap.
Requisition of raw materials from the foam buyer, specifying optimal size, quantity, and date required.
Interface with customer service and shipping to determine lead times based on capacity.
Coordinate all information needed for operations, such as drawings, sequence of operations, and cutting instructions.
Interface with all business units to identify and solve issues related to manpower, information, or material that may affect production.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of required reports. Assist in setting and attaining productivity and quality goals.
Assure that assigned employees are properly trained for the assigned job and company quality procedures and that procedures are followed. Maintain records of training.
Support the Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures following standard change control procedures to improve quality processes or reduce cost.
Ensure good housekeeping, adherence to safety rules, and maintenance of safe working conditions. Report and correct unsafe practices and situations.
Investigate accidents and recommend corrective action.
Follow established personnel policies and procedures and perform personnel actions including, but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, transfers, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, termination, and vacation scheduling.
Identify barriers to performing the above tasks and establish actions to break down those barriers.
Ask for assistance when needed to achieve the above tasks.
Communicate with other shifts and departments to ensure all operations are run as efficiently as possible to achieve our safety, quality, and customer service productivity and cost goals.
Drive Continuous improvement projects within assigned areas. Perform other duties as assigned.

The following positions report to the Production Supervisor: Assembly Operators I, II, and III Machine Operators I, II, and III Sewing Machine Operators

High school diploma or GED 1-2 years training required. AA degree preferred.
3 year’s related experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
This position works in an environment with moderate noise levels.
This position requires lifting 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, therefore proper lifting technique is required. Position may require standing and occasional sitting, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, squatting, and twisting. (a detailed physical requirements checklist is available for this position.)
Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting. The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and fully enclosed shoes (no open toe or heel) are required.
