Lube Technician

Performs Toyota Express Maintenance and light-service work efficiently, accurately, and safely while following Savannah Toyota and Toyota standards. Protects the customer, the vehicle, and the dealership by completing every required inspection, installation, torque, documentation, and quality-control step before a vehicle is released.

Monday-Saturday, as scheduled

Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and Toyota standards.

Follows the Toyota Express Maintenance process and all Savannah Toyota service procedures for every customer vehicle.

Performs oil and filter changes, tire rotations, fluid inspections and replenishment, air and cabin filter replacement, tire-pressure checks, and other approved maintenance services within the technician’s level of training.

Completes accurate multi-point inspections and documents actual vehicle conditions. Never marks a service, inspection item, or repair complete unless it was actually performed and verified.

When any wheel is removed, follows Savannah Toyota’s required wheel installation and torque-verification process every time, including proper wheel seating, lug-nut installation, torque to manufacturer specification with approved equipment, and any required secondary verification.

Never releases or marks a vehicle complete until all required safety checks and quality-control steps have been performed.

Immediately reports any mistake, loose or damaged component, vehicle damage, incomplete work, safety concern, or unusual condition to management before the vehicle is released.

Checks tire condition and pressure, adjusts pressure as required, and identifies unsafe or abnormal tire conditions for review.

Communicates with the Parts Department and service management to obtain needed parts, fluids, and supplies.

Documents all work performed and all inspection findings accurately on the repair order and in dealership systems.

Keeps customers’ vehicles clean and protected. Immediately notifies management or the service advisor of any change in vehicle appearance or condition.

Uses dealership tools, lifts, torque wrenches, equipment, and safety devices correctly and only as trained.

Maintains the work area in a clean, organized, and safe condition and remains accountable for dealership-owned tools and equipment.

Meets reasonable productivity expectations while never sacrificing safety, quality, or accuracy for speed.

Works cooperatively with teammates and follows direction from Lube, Service, and dealership management.

Participates in Toyota and dealership training programs and maintains required certifications and training progress.

Complies with applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental requirements, including hazardous-waste and OSHA-related procedures.

Provides professional, courteous service and maintains a professional appearance.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior automotive, maintenance, tire, or lube experience preferred; entry-level candidates may be considered based on aptitude, reliability, and ability to complete required training.
• Ability to read and follow repair orders, maintenance procedures, torque specifications, written instructions, and safety requirements.
• Ability to use common automotive hand tools, torque wrenches, vehicle lifts, tire equipment, and service equipment safely after training.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and accurately record measurements, inspection results, and service information.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate problems promptly, and accept coaching and direction.
• Consistent attention to detail, especially on safety-critical work such as wheel installation, torque verification, fluid levels, and under-vehicle inspections.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for dealership insurance requirements.
• Toyota or dealership training/certifications as assigned after hire.

Physical Demands

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment. The employee must be able to safely lift and carry automotive parts, wheels, tires, fluids, and equipment consistent with the demands of the position. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to inspect vehicle components.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in an automotive service environment with regular exposure to moving vehicles and mechanical parts, vehicle lifts, oils and automotive fluids, vibration, temperature changes, and shop noise. Required personal protective equipment and dealership safety procedures must be followed at all times.
