Job Family Description

Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.

Discipline Description

Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include

Work Control personnel provide maintenance and work planning for nuclear, non-nuclear and shop

facilities. They provide oversight for the Site Maintenance Program, provide support for the Reliability

Centered Maintenance Program, and provide Facility Administrator functions for Landlord Services

Buildings. Works Management Center personnel are responsible for coordinating and scheduling with

operations and maintenance personnel for corrective and preventative maintenance outages and block

week work to minimize facility operations impacts.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least 1.5 years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least three years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role
• Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

College degree in engineering, technical or mechanical area is preferred.

A Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Analyst with ISO 18436-2 Category 1 Vibration Analyst Certification or equivalent at a minimum, ISO 18436-2 Category 2 or 3 Vibration Analyst Certification preferred, or degreed engineer, and show competency in equipment predictive data collection and advanced analysis is preferred. Experience in industrial maintenance and vibration analyst.

Additional experience in field data collection utilizing one or more of the following PdM technologies, i.e., infrared thermography, motor current and motor circuit analysis, ultrasonic inspection, motion amplification, etc., is a plus.

Knowledge of work practices for equipment maintenance, repair, and reliability. Familiarity with industrial processes, systems, and equipment; and understanding of typical industrial work hazards, safety programs, and lockout tagout procedures.

Functional experience with a CMMS system, and Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Good organizational skills, self-motivated, and able to deliver result in their business area. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
