Job Family Description

Information Technology / Operations Technology (IT/OT) professionals sculpt the technological framework of the organization through the creation and management of scalable and secure information systems. Charged with the development and deployment of solutions, they analyze short- and long-term requirements to enhance system functionality and efficiency. They design and refine software applications, ensuring integration with existing architectural paradigms while also developing network systems and infrastructure to support business needs. IT/OT personnel manage the organization's IT/OT landscape, guaranteeing the reliable operation of servers, databases, and other components of the technology ecosystem. By maintaining a secure and robust IT/OT infrastructure, they uphold the integrity and confidentiality of data while facilitating connectivity and accessibility. Information Technology / Operations Technology personnel continually adapt to technological advancements, ensuring the organization stays at the forefront of emerging IT/OT trends and is well-equipped to meet future challenges while maintaining secure and stable operations.

Discipline Description

Business systems personnel analyze, design, test, and implement technology solutions to enhance business processes and workflows. They collaborate with stakeholders to establish priorities, identify requirements, develop cross-disciplined estimates for labor and materials to meet the requirements, coordinate funding sources, develop and manage integrated schedules, and document the project from inception to production status, including ongoing maintenance and operations. These efforts are aimed at aligning business systems products and services to customer requirements, streamlining operations, and optimizing system performance, driving innovation and efficiency within the organization.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include

The Associate IT Technical and Business Analyst provide value-added services by streamlining business processes focusing on producing quality and timely IT products and services in accordance with SRNS IT processes and procedures. Business Analysts identify business needs, recommend relevant solutions, and identify the pertinent business requirements. Business Analysts use tools and techniques to uncover and analyze opportunities in serving management, stakeholder, and customer needs leveraging technical aptitude. Under supervision, the Associate Business Analyst determines and/or verifies process, product, and documentation requirements for a variety of Department needs; for example, governance, procurement, project management, procedure development and maintenance, data calls/audits, contracts, communications, continuous

improvement, risk management, quality assurance, and software development lifecycle support. Primary responsibilities of this position include, under supervision, supporting projects and modifying strategies, procedural, and requirements documents; learning to write business-specific documents; working to meet firm deadlines and key milestones; learning SRNS and relevant section/department systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks; demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills; developing and utilizing organizational skills; and developing technical documentation for specified assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field
  • Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
  • Ability to obtain a Q level clearance
  • Cooperates with work group to perform and support the day-to-day activities for assigned work/teams.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives, goals, and process to achieve team goals or participates in goal setting to create work schedules. Provides regular status updates and ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Supports data collection and analysis and as directed, develops presentations and report sections for IT products and publications. Incorporates editorial and substantive technical changes as directed.
  • Runs ad hoc reports and analyzes data in support of assigned duties and as requested to meet customer and management needs. Performs data cleanup as directed.
  • Develops working knowledge of Site, IT, DOE, and other stakeholder and management systems to facilitate IT efficiency and service. Answers inquiries from outside groups, seeking advice as needed.
  • Under guidance, completes assignments including governance reviews, procurement reviews, reviews of system design or change requests, surveillances, monitoring, assessments, audits, and reviews of quality related activities.
  • Completes assigned tasks and provides support to others in assignments of moderate scope and complexity, developing effective communications and documentation and exhibiting understanding of IT mission, strategy, operations, and procedures. Performs basic research to provide requested data.
  • Consults with work group and management to complete tasks in support of assigned program. Recognizes when a problem needs to be addressed; seeks the appropriate level of assistance or approval.
  • Actively learns and begins to take ownership of assigned administrative and technical support tasks, providing regular reporting and escalating issues as appropriate. Assists group members in problem solving.
