Job Family Description

Maintenance/production personnel support the operational success of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, buildings, systems, and shops. Professionals in these roles are responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of equipment, machinery, and production processes to meet quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Discipline Description

Electrical and Instrumentation Control (E&IC) personnel are responsible for the implementation, operation, and maintenance of instrument/electrical systems. They troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical equipment and solve technical problems in nuclear facility settings

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include

Perform the installation, inspection, calibration, maintenance and repair of moderately complex equipment, which employ pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, chemical, optical, electronic or electrical principles of operation. Directs the actions of less qualified or lower grade level mechanics with moderately complex maintenance tasks on electrical or electronic equipment. Assists with the qualification of less qualified or lower grade level mechanics. Attends classroom, on-the-job, and other types of training as deemed necessary by line management. Selected candidates must pass the E&I Unit skills test administered by Site Maintenance Training personnel. Must meet the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meet Rad Con requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have successfully performed as a Level O1 Entry Mechanic for 12 months OR
  • Associate's degree in one of the following or equivalent: Electronic Engineering Technology, Electronic Instrumentation Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or other directly related field OR
  • Four years of related experience or training equivalent to qualification standards, such as electrical or instrumentation maintenance in an industrial or military setting.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
