What are the responsibilities and job description for the SRNL Metallurgist position at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions LLC?
SRNL is seeking an experienced Metallurgical Engineer that will apply technical knowledge in the fields of metallurgical engineering and materials science to programs at the Savannah River National Laboratory. The candidate will work on interdisciplinary teams as the primary technical lead on the Mobile Melt and Consolidate program to create programmatic support in building systems to support furnace melting operations and research support on tasks involving technology development of first-of-kind concepts for materials system solutions. The candidate should have knowledge of metal and ceramic materials processing with aptitude to support advanced material development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on work experience with materials processing or in a foundry or laboratory working with furnaces, ovens, and other metallurgical equipment. They will also be expected to prepare samples for metallography and failure analysis. The candidate will also be expected to author/contribute to technical reports and publications.Bachelors degree in metallurgy/metallurgical engineering with at least 14 years of demonstrated experience in foundry and manufacturing, metallurgical failure analysis, and metallurgical engineering and design.

Masters degree in metallurgy/metallurgical engineering with at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in foundry and manufacturing, metallurgical failure analysis, and metallurgical engineering and design.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
