What are the responsibilities and job description for the SRNL Deputy, Associate Lab Director position at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC?
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
SRNL is seeking a Deputy Associate Laboratory Director / Chief Operating Officer for the Global Security Directorate (GSD). GSD is growing in the areas of low level radioisotope detection and measurement, international nuclear safeguards, export control programs to prevent the spread on WMD technology, analysis of nuclear weapons and fuel cycle programs and the spread of WMD technology, atmospheric modeling and sampling, nuclear material processing, development of nuclear material shipping packages, electrical grid resiliency and cybersecurity. The D-ALD is responsible for the coordination with Facility Operations and Business Services areas such as finance and procurement. They are also responsible for development and oversight of the directorate’s risk assessment process. The D-ALD must demonstrate integrity, the ability to establish trust, commitment to quality and excellence in science and technology, and commitment to diversity and excellence in the workforce. In line with the laboratory's goal to develop and deliver leading edge science and technology that meets sponsors evolving business objectives, the D-ALD/ is responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated capability management plan. The D-ALD supports and drives laboratory-level continuous improvement in GSD’s operational practices and systems. They are responsible for the operational excellence (safety, security, etc.) and establishing a strong safety culture in accordance with SRNL’s Safe Conduct of Research principles environmental, They also acts of the behalf of the ALD in meetings with senior SRNL leadership and sponsors.

Basic Education Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering, science or business field with 12 years serving in leadership positions for US Government agency and/or contractors in areas of nonproliferation, weapons of mass destruction or national security. Leadership experience at a Department of Energy National Laboratory.
Other Required Qualifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in engineering, science or business field.
15 years serving in leadership positions for US Government agency and/or contractors in areas of nonproliferation, weapons of mass destruction or national security. Leadership experience at a Department of Energy National Laboratory.
