Job Description

SRNL's Advanced Engineering Division is seeking Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering students who are currently pursuing a graduate degree for multiple internship opportunities (10-week summer internship).

Responsibilities

The selected candidates will work with engineers, scientists, researchers, technical specialists, and other professionals within Advanced Engineering at Savannah River National Laboratory with a focus on conducting hands-on automation, robotics, controls, instrumentation, and/or data acquisition system development. Candidates should be capable of developing, designing, fabricating, assembling, testing, evaluating, calibrating, and fielding systems, components, and tooling to meet unique technical challenges for end users. They are expected to deliver results in a safe, responsible, secure, timely, and cost-effective manner. Candidates need to understand and apply knowledge of standard engineering concepts, principles, techniques, and fundamentals to achieve innovative solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering prior to start date
  • Pursuing a Graduate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Transcript verification is required.
  • 3.0 GPA

About The Team

Weapons Production Technology (WPT) is a world leader in tritium fuel cycles with a strong industrial partnership, including most private companies working on fusion research. WPT also leads the Tokomak Exhaust System Development Project for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor. The staff of 300 in this vibrant organization are leading the frontiers of tritium effects on materials, hydrogen science, fusion related research, plutonium metallurgy, sensing and metrology, advanced engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
