The Technical Lead - Radioactive Waste Disposal & Assessment develops, implements, and defends technical assessments, calculations, computational models, and miscellaneous documents that support the long-term capacity of engineered and natural barrier systems to isolate radioactive waste at the Savannah River Site (SRS) from the surrounding environment.

The Technical Lead - Radioactive Waste Disposal & Assessment develops, implements, and defends technical assessments, calculations, computational models, and miscellaneous documents that support the long-term capacity of engineered and natural barrier systems to isolate radioactive waste at the Savannah River Site (SRS) from the surrounding environment.
General responsibilities include
- Compilation of technical inputs (i.e., calculations, computational models, etc.) to produce multi-faceted environmental and radiological performance assessments (PAs) and safety case assessments.
- Interfacing with facility engineering and operations, regulatory stakeholders, and Department of Energy (DOE) customers.
- Contributing to the fulfillment of project and organizational objectives as a team member dedicated to demonstrating long-term compliance of radioactive waste disposal actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Computer Science or other related science degree from an accredited university or college
- This is a multilevel posting. Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Computer Science or other related science degree from an accredited university or college
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background with the Department of Energy defense programs and chemical processes.
- Familiarity in flow and contaminant transport modeling calculations.
