General Purpose
The Laundry Aide is responsible for collecting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing personal and facility linens in accordance with infection control procedures and facility standards. This role ensures that residents have clean, sanitary clothing and bedding while maintaining dignity and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Collect soiled linens and personal clothing from resident rooms and designated collection areas.
- Sort laundry according to type, color, and washing instructions.
- Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machines for proper function and promptly report malfunctions to the supervisor.
Folding & Distribution
- Fold, sort, and label clean laundry accurately.
- Deliver clean linens and personal clothing to the appropriate rooms or storage areas.
- Ensure personal items are returned to the correct residents in good condition.
Sanitation & Infection Control
- Follow all infection prevention procedures and use PPE as directed.
- Clean and disinfect laundry carts, machines, and work areas daily.
- Handle soiled or biohazardous items safely in accordance with facility protocols.
Teamwork & Communication
- Coordinate with nursing and housekeeping staff regarding laundry needs.
- Report lost, damaged, or unclaimed items to the supervisor.
- Provide respectful service to residents and maintain the security of their belongings.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in laundry or housekeeping preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment safely.
- Basic organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and sort laundry, including items up to 50 lbs.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
