Reports To: Executive Director of Capital Programs & Maintenance
Work Hours: Flexible during normal business hours M-F
Requirements:
· Currently enrolled students in a Two- or Four- year College, University, or equivalent professional training program.
· Proficiency with Microsoft O?ce suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Must have reliable transportation to and from SCCPSS Capital Programs & Maintenance Department location – 3609
Hopkins Street, 31405.
· Ability to conduct site visits to active construction projects in the Chatham County Area.
Preferred Qualifications:
· College Students – currently enrolled in a college level program related to Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural, or Project Management.
· Familiarity with databases and project management software and spreadsheet development.
Essential Duties:
1. Assist Project Managers and Staff: Collaborate closely with Project Managers and other team members to provide
support for ongoing capital projects within the Savannah- Chatham County Public School System.
2. Document Management: Organize and maintain critical design and construction documentation including drawings,
project manuals, and speci?cations. Ensure that these documents are easily accessible to the team.
3. Knowledge Base Development: Contribute to the development of a knowledge base that compiles best practices and
lessons learned from SCCPSS capital projects. This may involve research, data collection, and documentation.
4. Data Collection and Organization: Assist Project Managers in collecting and organizing data related to site inspections
and conformance documentation. This may include inputting data into spreadsheets or databases.
5. Technology Tools: Take responsibility for the use of technology tools used by the group such as plotters, tablets, and
inspection devices. Ensure that these tools are in good working condition after use.
6. Site Visits: If quali?ed and as needed, conduct site visits to active construction projects. This may involve documenting
progress, taking photographs, and assisting in the assessment of project status.
7. Assignment for hands-on learning with partnered Architectural, Engineering, and Construction Management firms.
8. Leadership: Coordinate junior interns on multi-month projects, assigning duties and providing assistance until project
completion.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
2. Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to climb on building roofs.
4. Possible exposure to heavy dust, dirt, chemical, or paint fumes, or other airborne matter.
5. Ability to respond quickly in an emergency.
