Position Overview
The Prescription & Pharmacy Coordinator is a specialized clinical role focused on managing all aspects of prescription coordination, pharmacy partnerships, and medication-related patient support. This position serves as the critical bridge between our providers, patients, and pharmacy partners, ensuring seamless medication fulfillment while providing clinical oversight for our Medical Weight Loss program. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented RM or MA with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for medication management and patient education.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrescription Management & Fulfillment
- Review and process medication reconciliation (Med Rec) documents for accuracy and completeness
- Submit prescriptions (Rx) to appropriate pharmacies via electronic systems, fax, or phone
- Confirm Rx submission and verify receipt by pharmacy partners
- Call in prescriptions directly to pharmacies as needed
- Process patient opt-out Rx cancellations and update patient records accordingly
- Facilitate Quick Care Rx fulfillment for urgent patient medication needs
- Track prescription status from submission through patient pickup
- Troubleshoot prescription issues including insurance rejections, pharmacy delays, and medication availability
- Maintain organized system for tracking all outgoing prescriptions
Request Coordination & Triage
- Triage inbound pharmacy partner communications and resolve medication-related issues
- Monitor pharmacy partner phone line and respond to inquiries promptly
- Manage clinic fax for incoming pharmacy communications and prescription-related documents
- Process inbound patient Rx requests including refills and new prescription needs
- Handle inbound Quick Care requests for same-day or urgent medication needs
- Coordinate with providers for prescription approvals and clarifications
- Communicate prescription status updates to patients proactively
- Serve as liaison between patients, providers, and external pharmacy partners
Medical Weight Loss Program Support
- Manage Medical Weight Loss Rx documentation including GLP-1 medications and other weight loss prescriptions
- Conduct Medical Weight Loss follow-up calls to assess medication tolerance, side effects, and patient progress
- Provide patient education on weight loss medications including dosing, administration, and expectations
- Monitor patient compliance and adherence to weight loss medication protocols
- Document all weight loss program interactions in EMR
- Coordinate medication adjustments with providers based on patient response
- Support patients through medication titration and dose changes
- Track weight loss program outcomes and medication effectiveness
Qualifications
Required:
- Active, unrestricted RN or MA license in the State of Georgia (or multistate compact license)
- Minimum 2-3 years of nursing experience in clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology and medication management
- Experience with electronic prescribing systems and pharmacy coordination
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and high prescription volume
- Professional phone etiquette and patient education skills
