Job Overview
We are hiring on‑call Registered Nurse (RN) substitutes to provide reliable, high‑quality nursing coverage across CFISD campuses. Substitute RNs will step into varied clinic environments, manage acute and routine student health needs, and coordinate with campus staff to maintain consistent care. Ideal candidates are adaptable, experienced in pediatric or school health settings, and able to orient quickly to new campuses.
Responsibilities
- Assume full RN duties for the shift, including triage, medication administration, and emergency care.
- Review and follow student IHPs and physician orders for assigned students.
- Document encounters in district-required format and complete handoffs to regular staff.
- Provide health education and emergency response as needed.
- Notify Health Services administration of significant clinical events and incidents.
- Ensure sign-in/out at campus front office and submit timesheets/invoices if contracted.
Typical schedule/setting:
On‑call assignments across multiple campuses; shifts align with campus hours; must be available for short‑notice coverage and flexible scheduling.
Supervision/reporting:
Temporary supervision by campus administrator and CFISD Health Services; follow district substitute protocols.
Documentation & compliance:
Adhere to FERPA/HIPAA and TBON standards; maintain current certifications and background clearance; complete required documentation and incident reporting.
Requirements:
- Active, unrestricted Texas RN license (TBON).
- Minimum 1 year clinical nursing experience; school health or pediatric experience preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Flexible availability for short‑notice assignments.
- Ability to pass Texas fingerprint criminal background check and complete TEA pre‑service affidavit (SB571).
- Strong documentation skills and ability to adapt to different EHRs and campus protocols.
- Reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior substitute or float nurse experience.
- Experience in emergency response and medically complex student care.
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
