The Maintenance Supervisor leads the Maintenance Team in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment at Savage's Comanche Material Handling operation in Pueblo, Colorado. Savage manages and performs critical steps in the coal supply chain, including managing product using heavy equipment at the customer facility, stockpiling coal, and transporting products via conveyor structures to the Comanche Power Station.

The Maintenance Supervisor leads the Maintenance Team in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment at Savage's Comanche Material Handling operation in Pueblo, Colorado. Savage manages and performs critical steps in the coal supply chain, including managing product using heavy equipment at the customer facility, stockpiling coal, and transporting products via conveyor structures to the Comanche Power Station.
What You Will Be Doing
- Ensure all team members follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures, and facilitate corrective action
- Write and revise maintenance procedures as needed
- Oversee development and execution of weekly maintenance schedule
- Supervise daily maintenance activities and workforce performing maintenance
- Assist in all training of team members in proper maintenance techniques and equipment operation
- Lead preventative maintenance practices
- Maintain the CMMS to ensure the system is properly utilized
- Procure parts from external vendors when needed
- Write and manage repair orders/work orders
- Maintain and constantly update the critical parts list
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure that necessary amounts of inventory are in stock to reduce any delays or failures
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance audits
- Communicate with the customer in a professional and competent manner
- Work with the operation to schedule maintenance activities and planning schedules to accommodate the Customer’s production plans and emergency repairs as needed
- High School Diploma or greater, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with bulk materials, conveyor systems, and heavy equipment
- Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role, preferably maintenance
- Background in Preventative Maintenance and Mechanical Reliability
- Knowledge and experience using a CMMS
- Background in planning and scheduling maintenance
- Extensive knowledge of conveyor systems, heavy equipment (excavators, front-end loaders, and bulldozers), conveyor systems, and other types of material handling.
- Experience executing planned and scheduled maintenance activities with a focus on reducing emergencies and reactive work
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
- Experience operating several different types of heavy equipment from various manufacturers and Programmable Logic Controller systems (PLCs)
- Experience with high safety standards and the dangers of working in these types of environments, and understanding how poor maintenance can be costly to such industries
- Excellent communication skills - written and spoken
- Excellent organizational skills & multi-tasking
- Extensive knowledge of operating a variety of equipment is a plus
- Experience with applying safety regulations and written procedures within a power plant is required
- Present in front of a group
- Strong familiarity with OSHA safety regulations for an industrial power facility
- Light welding and fabrication skills are a plus
- Computer knowledge and ability to perform data entry with high accuracy
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform parts pickups and delivery when needed
- Work in an environment containing coal dust, hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments
- Properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
- Work at heights, climb stairs, and climb ladders
- Frequent walking, including on uneven ground
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
