Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical payroll accounting duties to ensure District employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner; prepares, processes and reconciles payroll and timekeeping documents, accounting records and reports for management, faculty, classified and hourly employees; and performs related duties as assigned. Performs complex payroll, bookkeeping, and fiscal support duties related to the preparation and processing of payroll for District employees. Responsibilities include reviewing and auditing payroll data, maintaining payroll and financial records, processing deductions and adjustments, supporting accounts payable and receivable functions, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with District policies and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Provides customer service and support to employees regarding payroll and benefits matters, communicates with external agencies and financial institutions, and assists with general office coordination, recordkeeping, and fiscal operations. Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be graduation from an associate degree program with coursework in accounting, and at least three years of progressively responsible full-charge bookkeeping or payroll processing; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration and payroll or accounting experience in a public agency or equivalent. A valid California driver's license.
