Statement of Duties:
• Performs psychological assessments and presents in Team meetings in an oral and written format, primarily for secondary level students.
• Provides individual and group therapy to designated special needs students, primarily secondary level.
• Provides crisis intervention.
• Screens referrals in conjunction with other designated school personnel
• Participates in the pre-referral process as needed.
• Consults on a regular basis with classroom teachers regarding special needs students.
• Performs other duties assigned by the District Principal or the Director of Pupil Personnel, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Saugus School Committee.
Qualifications:
• Licensed by The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts as a School Psychologist.
• M.Ed. in counseling or school psychology.
• Knowledge of integration and inclusive models of instruction.
• Knowledge of curriculum modifications, behavior management strategies, and learning styles.
• Ability to perform and interpret psychological evaluations, including projectives.
• Ability to provide individual and small group therapy to the school-age students.
• Ability to work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators.
• Knowledge of special education programs and regulations.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate
Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:
• Works under the supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel
