Job Overview:
Gilford School District is accepting applications for a dependable and hardworking Groundskeeper to join our facilities team. This daytime position plays an important role in keeping our school grounds safe, clean, attractive, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, stays on task, and is able to work independently while contributing to a team.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain lawns, athletic fields, walkways, landscaped areas, and other school grounds to ensure they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
• Perform routine lawn care, including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, and other seasonal maintenance.
• Maintain trees, shrubs, flower beds, and other landscaped areas, including planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching as needed.
• Remove leaves, branches, litter, and other debris from school grounds and outdoor areas.
• Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal as assigned.
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal equipment, and other related tools.
• Perform routine inspections of grounds, equipment, and outdoor facilities and report safety concerns or needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Assist with the setup, maintenance, and cleanup of athletic fields and outdoor areas for school activities and events.
• Perform minor grounds-related repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Maintain and organize tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Follow all safety procedures and properly use equipment, tools, and materials.
• Work cooperatively with custodial, maintenance, and other facilities staff to support the overall operation of the district.
Experience:
Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, facilities, or maintenance experience is preferred. Experience operating lawn care, landscaping, or snow removal equipment is helpful. Candidates should be reliable, able to work independently, comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and able to safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in maintaining attractive and safe school grounds are key to success in this role.
