What are the responsibilities and job description for the Snowflake Data Architect (dbt / AWS) position at Satwic Inc?
Duties:
- Establish and document the technical requirements for reporting software including tables, views, report design, unit test plans, and test cases.
- Assist in all phases of the reporting software development cycle including requirements gathering, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and production support.
- Proficiently create and maintain complex SQL statements to generate tables and views that will be used by PowerBI developers to drive visualizations. Develop and enhance SQL-based tables and views as per user requirements.
- Facilitate SQL design sessions and SQL code walk-throughs to ensure adherence to development standards and best practices using dbt.
- Have at least 5 years of experience as a dbt developer, with a strong focus in Snowflake.
- Knowledge of snowflake, git, pull requests, visual studio code, and dbt is strongly recommended.
- Develop and maintain documentation on all database models, tables, guidelines, methods, and standards to ensure consistency and clarity.
- Provide recommendations for further definition of development standards and application architecture based on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Conduct unit testing and assist in user testing of complex SQL statements or report modifications to ensure quality and functionality meet requirements.
- Train other staff members on development processes and standards to ensure consistency across the team.
- Design, implement solution using AWS for vendor inbound/outbound data transfer in client’s Data Lake environment.
- Design, implement data lake inbound/outbound solutions using cloud technologies Five Tran, AWS Glue, AWS (Transfer Family, Step Function, Event Bridge, lambda).
Focus: Strategy, Complex Architecture, and Stakeholder Alignment:
1. Strategic Design & Governance
- Architecture Mapping: Define the target Snowflake schema (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and lead the transition from Oracle’s row-based PL/SQL to Snowflake’s columnar SQL logic.
- Security & Compliance: Onsite coordination with applications/vendors/partners and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) in Snowflake.
- dbt Project Standards: Establish global dbt macros, materialization strategies (Incremental vs. Table), and CI/CD pipeline standards.
2. Stakeholder & Change Management
- UAT Orchestration: Lead the "Inbound/Availability" validation with business users. Onsite presence is required to translate technical migration gaps into business impact.
- Critical Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for "P0" migration failures or data discrepancies that block downstream reporting.
- Cutover Planning: Own the "Go-Live" runbook, specifically managing the final sync from Oracle to Snowflake during the production window.
