Career Coach
Job Goal:
To help the students identify career goals aligned with their passions, interests, and strengths. And provide opportunities to develop real-world skills and connect with alumni, peers, and faculty who can support them on their career path.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communication, or related field required.
2. Experience working in industry preferred.
3. Pleasing personality; enthusiastic, positive attitude, evidence of trustworthiness; knowledge in business and industry; effective human relations skills.
4. Ability to pass a background check.
5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
6. Knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the world of work.
7. Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standard/Plan 2022.
8. Knowledge of current employment trends.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Represent the Career Coach Program in the local high schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote the CTE programs.
2. Provide career development guidance for high school students with an emphasis on technical programs.
3. Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs.
4. Assist prospective students, including elementary, with career exploration activities and career assessments.
5. Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs.
6. Assist prospective students with admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures of the college.
7. Guide students regarding career choices.
8. Conduct high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
9. Provide prospective students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices.
10. Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with high school students.
11. Coordinate job shadowing opportunities for students.
12. Maintain an ongoing database of students and classrooms where services are offered.
13. Comply with all policies of the LEA and the State Department of Education.
14. Attends meetings, trainings, seminars, and workshops as required.
15. Attends and assists with supervision of school system activities, events, ceremonies, and conferences as needed.
16. Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
17. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
18. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
19. Engages in professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics.
20. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns, and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
21. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
22. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
23. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member.
24. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
25. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
26. Performs any other job‐related duties as assigned by the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
SALARY RANGE: According to Satsuma City Schools Salary Schedule at https://www.satsumaschools.com/careers. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience. Current employees with questions regarding step placement on the salary schedule should contact the Personnel Department.
