Position Description:
The Quality Technician will be responsible for assisting the Organization’s Quality Department in evaluating product part approval process, developing plans for product development, and plans for kaizen events using PDCA methodology for corrective action purposes.
Duties:
· Assist with the development of quality standards for production part approval process. (PPAP)
· Work in a manufacturing environment and apply all QA and QC knowledge into manufacturing processes.
· Assist in gathering data, compiling information and assisting management in development of metrics and reports.
· Prepare calibration reports and certificates as needed.
· Compiles documentation for all customer sample submissions (lab work, certifications, prints, and layouts)
· Perform Quality Management Systems and process audits
· Completes reports to document non-conformances
· Preparation of pilot and prototype paperwork
· Maintain and follow up on all certifications (metal and finishes)
· Elaborate control plans
· Certify and measure products to meet tolerance specifications
· Conduct first piece inspections.
· Conduct in-process and final audits as it related to product.
· Elaborate NCR’s, 8D’s as necessary.
· Perform corrective action on customer non-conformances
· Take the lead in root cause analysis.
· Conduct inventory on Quality reject cage and ensure product is properly dispositioned/quarantine.
· Take the lead in training operators for improvement.
· Be involved proactively to minimize failure modes in production.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED
· 1 year experience in Quality Manufacturing processes
· Knowledge of PPAP Quality System (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP Quality Process
· Must be able to read blueprints
· Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, and gauges
· Experience with Quality Management Systems such as (TQM’s, Lean, Six-Sigma or Kaizen)
· Experience with creating and revising ISO procedures
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Must be able to analyze information, strategic planning, and be detail oriented
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Strong Communication Skills
· Self- Directed
Physical Demands:
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
· Must be able to occasionally move about the inside the office to access files, equipment, etc.
· Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder
· Able to communicate and exchange accurate information
· Must be able to detect, distinguish product variances from specifications
