Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Customer Service Associate to join our retail team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing transactions efficiently, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and experience with POS systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate POS systems accurately to process customer transactions, including cash handling and credit card payments
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service throughout their shopping experience
- Assist customers with product inquiries, product demos, and upselling when appropriate
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with stock replenishment
- Enforce store policies on phone etiquette and customer interactions to ensure a welcoming environment
- Support supervisory staff with training new team members and supervising daily operations when needed
- Promote store promotions and special offers to maximize sales opportunities
- Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction
Experience
- Previous cashiering or retail sales experience preferred, especially in grocery or similar retail environments
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math concepts
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or other languages) are advantageous
- Experience in supervising or leading a team is a plus but not required
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to upsell products and conduct product demos effectively
- Prior experience in merchandising, stocking, or grocery store operations is beneficial but not mandatory
