ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspect sanitation work and follow up as appropriate to ensure that all operating and sanitation standards have been met to ensure a safe and effective on-time start of production and processing equipment.
  • Use of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices.
  • Documents cleaning information in work sheets and sanitation schedules.
  • Titrates chemicals used to proper concentration.
  • Fills and replaces chemical drums and barrels throughout the plant.
  • Anticipates needs, organizes duties, troubleshoots, and problem solves anything related to sanitation and set up.
  • Complies with all company Safety and GMP policies.
  • Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action.
  • Trains & coaches team members on proper sanitation processes and procedures, including manual cleaning, set up and tear down of equipment, sanitation of equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Coaches’ production team members on proper sanitation techniques and efficiency.
  • Assist in sanitation and provide break relief when needed.
  • Perform facility periodical and other sanitation duties as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalency is preferred (GED).

Basic knowledge of sanitation practices is preferred but not required.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to work in a wet environment and be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
  • Able to handle heights while working on the scissor lift, (will train and certify internally after job is acquired)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, cleaning procedures, safety instructions and memos. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other team members.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and accommodate shift in daily priorities based on the needs of the facility.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Internally certified to operate manual and powered pallet jacks (will train and certify internally after job is acquired).
  • Internally certified to operate motorized scissor lift (will train and certify internally after job is acquired).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The team member frequently is required to talk or hear.  The team member is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The team member must occasionally lift 20 pound wheels of cheese and/or chemical containers weighing up to 50 pounds.  The job also requires the ability to use a barrel cart to transport 50-55 gallon drums, up to 550 lbs, to chemical stations.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.  The team member is frequently exposed to acid or caustic chemicals.  The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Steel toe rubber boots, latex rubber gloves, rubber apron, safety glasses, face shield when handling chemicals, hair net and beard net and hearing protection.
