Job Title: Paint Line Team Lead
Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Work Schedule: 3rd Shift – Monday-Friday 11pm-7:30am
Shift Premium: Additional $1.50 for each hour worked on 3rd shift
SUMMARY
The Production Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations on the floor, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently met. This role serves as the first line of leadership, providing hands-on guidance, training, and support to production employees while driving continuous improvement and accountability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions
- Lead and support a team of production employees to meet daily output, quality, and efficiency goals.
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and production schedules to ensure on-time completion of orders.
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures; actively promote a safety-first culture.
- Train, coach, and develop team members on processes, equipment, and standard work, including onboarding of new hires.
- Perform in-process quality checks and ensure adherence to specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and escalate equipment or process concerns as needed.
- Coordinate with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and other departments to resolve issues and improve performance.
- Track and report key production metrics, including output, downtime, and scrap.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, waste reduction, and 5S standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.
- Communicate daily job assignments, priorities, and expectations clearly to team members.
- Provide hands-on support on the production floor to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Assist with attendance tracking, shift handoffs, and basic administrative responsibilities.
- Promote a professional, team-oriented work environment aligned with company values.
- Identify and communicate production challenges, equipment issues, and improvement opportunities to leadership in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–5 years of manufacturing or production experience required.
- Experience supervising or working closely with team members at all levels.
- Excellent judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to support team success across departments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to stand for 10–12 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
