About the Role :
As a Residential Advocate at SARC you will play a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents of our shelter.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Greeting residents and responding to their requests for assistance or supplies with compassion and empathy.
- Conducting intakes and orienting survivors and their children to the shelter ensuring their initial needs are met.
- Maintaining cleanliness and order of the shelter including restocking supplies laundry and conducting regular security checks.
- Providing crisis intervention services including answering emergency hot lines safety planning and offering emotional support.
- Collaborating with oncall staff to address emergencies and issues related to residents.
Schedule :
Friday and Saturday 10pm to 8am.
Salary :
$19.00 / hour plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked between 8pm and 8am.
Requirements
Necessary Skills :
- Desire to gain experience working with victims / survivors of domestic violence.
- Attention to detail emotional maturity flexibility and ability to work independently.
- Physical ability to climb steps and lift occasional bulky items.
Requirements for Consideration :
A valid drivers license.
Preferred Experience :
At least 1 year in crisis intervention.
