Description
The Clinical Manager is responsible for supervising activities in the clinical area as well as coordinating nursing services with those of the medical and administrative staff. The Clinical Manager will participate in the Center’s management team, primarily regarding the functions and operations of the facilities nursing services and how they relate to planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making. The Clinical Manager is responsible for the quality of patient care, resource and fiscal management in the clinical setting. The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing, directing, and supervising the following functions: nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, anesthesia, and patient activities.
- Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention, and staff development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Following Center policies and procedures; standards of care set by state board of nursing, and state Nurse Practice Act and other governing agency regulations.
- Adhering to principles of Universal Precautions. Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments.
- Ensures adherence to procedure and schedule.
- Serving as a patient advocate and safety monitor. Observes care in all areas of the perioperative continuum and monitors patient safety.
- Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice in the institution.
- Assesses the quality of care rendered.
- Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her supervision.
- Verifies employee credentials under his or her position supervision.
- Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
- Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the center.
- Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient organization through timely and effective resolution of disputes.
- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, staff retention, performance evaluation and staff development in the clinical setting.
- Ensures compliance with regulations of governing bodies and accrediting organizations by continually monitoring the facility’s service delivery and initiating changes as required.
- Serves as a spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the center with professional nursing and related organizations. Participates in meetings and committees.
- Encourages and supports research and improvement studies that can make meaningful contributions to the quality and economy of nursing services.
- Regular, physical attendance on a predictable basis is essential to the performance of this job.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current registered nurse licensure in state of employment.
- Two (2) years clinical supervision experience and/or training in a surgical setting, preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification, preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, preferred.
Salary : $92,000 - $93,000
