Elementary Special Education Teacher - K-1 Strategies Class - LOA - Dorothy Nolan Elementary School

The Saratoga Springs City School District is seeking a qualified Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for a Strategies K-1 Special Class at Dorothy Nolan Elementary School to cover a leave from November 19, 2026 through January 14, 2027.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide specialized instruction to students in a K-1 Strategies Special Class, addressing individual learning needs and IEP goals.
• Develop and implement instructional strategies and classroom supports to promote student learning, independence, and social-emotional development.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Establish a positive, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
• Collaborate with related service providers, teaching assistants, families, and other school personnel to support student success.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively regarding student progress and needs.
• Participate in Professional Learning Teams and contribute to collaborative instructional planning.

Key Qualities of the Candidate:

• New York State certification in Special Education appropriate for the assignment.
• Experience teaching students with disabilities, particularly at the elementary level, preferred.
• Understanding of New York State Learning Standards and special education regulations and practices.
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Willingness to collaborate with Professional Learning Teams and other school personnel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and training as needed.
• Patience, flexibility, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
• Positive attitude toward learning and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all students.
• Salary per SSTA Contract
