Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic ASC Clearance Team Nurse to join our outpatient endoscopy center team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring all preoperative clearances are completed efficiently and accurately, facilitating a smooth surgical process. Duties
- Review and verify medical documentation, including lab results, imaging reports, and prior medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic and Cerner
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information during all documentation and communication processes
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to confirm patient clearance based on clinical criteria appropriate for the Ambulatory Center
- Manage patient expectations in preparation for their upcoming procedure. Identifies additional testing that may need to be completed prior to procedure.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration;
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to perioperative care
- Hands-on experience in a similar setting preferred
- Ability to work effectively and independently
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment and interdisciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced environment
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in ACLS or PALS are advantageous
