💡 About Saratoga Hospital

At Saratoga Hospital, we’ve built a reputation for high-quality, compassionate care and a commitment to the health and well-being of our community. As part of the Albany Med Health System, we combine advanced technology with a deeply personal approach—creating a supportive environment for patients, staff, and providers alike. We believe that exceptional care starts with exceptional people.

🎯 About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Outpatient Bariatric Dietician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Outpatient Bariatric Dietician is responsible for providing supportive Nutrition Counseling services as part of a comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Program. Acts as member of multidisciplinary program team, evaluating patient progress over time and ensuring that patients are educated and supported in making lifelong lifestyle changes while remaining well-nourished.

🔍 What You’ll Do

Assessment and Implementation: Responsible for conducting thorough nutrition assessments of patients in the Bariatric Surgery Program, identifying potential nutrition issues, and providing education regarding pre-op and post-op diet regimens and expectations. Nutrition assessment findings and plans for implementation of nutrition interventions will be communicated to the Director of the Bariatric Surgery Center and members of the multidisciplinary team. Attention is paid to patient-centered and evidence-based care at all times.

Evaluation: The effectiveness of interventions and specific patient-focused outcomes are measured and evaluated. They are revised as appropriate to meet the unique needs of each patient. Patient compliance with diet recommendations and weight loss will be evaluated over time; patients will be encouraged to follow up yearly. Outcomes will be reported through Bariatric Surgery Program database and Food & Nutrition Services reporting.

Communication: Document individualized plans of care. Communicate with Director of Bariatric Surgery Center or designee to coordinate patient care. Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, family members, staff, professional colleagues, and community members in a variety of settings.

Education: Provide patient education related to weight loss and bariatric surgery procedures in both individual and group settings. Act as a bariatric nutrition resource for colleagues, patients, other departments, and the Greater Saratoga community.

Resources: Seek out educational opportunities in the areas of bariatric surgery, weight loss and evidence-based nutrition practice to stay current and competent in all areas of work responsibilities. Utilize appropriate resources to streamline work processes, solve problems as they arise and minimize waste when possible.

Community: Participate in community health education programs and exhibits related to the Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Center to increase community awareness of services. Promote Bariatric Surgery Program and services with potential and current customer groups, including physician practices, other health care providers and the community at large.
