Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the crucial initial stages of clinical trials, ensuring they are launched efficiently and compliantly. This role involves facilitating all the elements required in the start-up process from identifying a clinical trial, being selected as a site, all the way through study activation and initiation. It requires collaboration with various stakeholders and resolving issues that arise during the start-up process. This role is accountable for timelines related to study activation at the site. In addition, this role also serves as a Research Nurse responsible for the coordination and conduct of clinical trials as needed by the team, under the direction of the Principal Investigator and the Manager/Director, in accordance with the standards of good clinical practice and FDA regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
• Require appropriate training in Human Subject Protection and Safe Shipping/Handling of Bio-Hazardous Specimens (must be completed within thirty (30) days of hire.
• Require five (5) years of relevant nursing/clinical experience with a minimum of two (2) years in research.
• Require a valid driver's license and the ability to drive to off-site locations.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer experience in the start-up related processes of clinical research trial activation including but not limited to site selection, regulatory documents, feasibility questionnaires, pre-qualification visits, site initiation visits, etc.
• Prefer certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator within one (1) year of eligibility.
• Prefer the demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work effectively with little to no supervision.
• Prefer demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal skills with staff, subjects, families, physicians, and sponsor/auditors of clinical trials.
• Prefer knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
