Job Summary
This leader has operational accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of the Community Relations area for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System (SMHCS). In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals. Manages all community development initiatives throughout the organization. Plans, develops and implements programs to promote community awareness. Manages both internal and community events to incorporate the organization into the community.
This position is an in-person role and requires regular on-site presence at our office as well as at
various event locations, as needed. Remote work is not available for this role. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
depending on event schedules.

Required Qualifications
- Require a minimum of five (5) years of experience in business development.
- Require a Bachelor's degree in communications, business or related field.
- Require a minimum of five (5) years of experience in community work or event planning.
- Prefer ability to work successfully with internal and external audiences, and representatives from various committees, organizations and neighborhoods, to achieve fulfillment of the health care system's community relations mission.
- Prefer ability to be self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
- Prefer demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Prefer demonstrated proficiency in fielding print and electronic media requests, and writing press releases.
- Prefer health care corporate communications experience.
- Prefer experience working with graphic designers, photographers, writers and printers.
- Prefer the ability to communicate well in a diverse setting.
- Prefer the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
