Role Purpose

As a Bilingual Medical Assistant, you’ll be a key part of our medical team, supporting patients from the moment they arrive until they head home. You will provide assistance during medical appointments, document clinical information accurately, support laboratory testing, and educate patients on their care, all while making every visit feel welcoming and seamless.

Who You Are

You’re an experienced Medical Assistant or CNA who leads with compassion, takes pride in your professionalism, and thrives as part of a close-knit team. Your bilingual skills help patients feel heard, understood, and cared for.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and prepare them for medical appointments.
  • Obtain health histories and document patient details accurately.
  • Take vital signs and support routine clinical procedures.
  • Perform CLIA-waived testing after required training, including pregnancy and STI testing.
  • Provide education to clients on pregnancy, reproductive health, and available services.
  • Communicate follow-up information and contribute to care coordination efforts.
  • Input and maintain accurate patient documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Prepare exam rooms and keep clinical supplies stocked.
  • Provide support to physicians, nurses, and clinical team members throughout patient visits.
  • Uphold HIPAA requirements and protect confidential medical information.
  • Complete all required organizational and clinical training.
  • Help with other administrative or clinical projects as assigned.

Without a doubt the role will suit a candidate with:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Technician, or equivalent clinical credential.
  • A minimum of one year of hands-on patient care experience within a healthcare environment, including physician practices, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, hospitals, or women’s health offices.
  • Experience taking vital signs and recording patient information.
  • A level of comfort working directly with patients in a caring, service-focused environment.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.

It would be beneficial (but not essential) if you also have:

  • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience.
  • Prior experience in women’s health or obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems, particularly eClinicalWorks.
  • Experience collecting specimens or performing laboratory testing.

Beyond your clinical qualifications, we're looking for someone who brings compassion, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to patient care.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Empathy and professionalism in every patient interaction, helping women feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and smooth day-to-day clinic operations.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential patient information.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Initiative and teamwork, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative clinical environment.
  • Reliability and adaptability, along with a genuine dedication to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Faith-Based Mission

Because Sarasota Medical Pregnancy Center is a Christian ministry, applicants should:

  • Have a personal Christian faith and lifestyle consistent with the organization's mission.
  • Support the Center's life-affirming philosophy.
  • Be willing to affirm and follow the organization's Statement of Faith, Statement of Principle, and employment policies.

Employment Conditions

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing pre-employment requirements, including a background check and drug screening. New hires must also acknowledge and comply with the Center's policies, Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, and Statement of Faith.
