Golf Shop Attendant Part Time

Job Description

The Golf Shop Attendant is responsible for providing excellent service to all golf course members and guests. The Attendant performs intermediate duties relative to the daily operation of the golf shop which includes but is not limited to operating a point-of-sale system, preparing end-of-day reports, managing tee times and related registrations, collecting fees and processing merchandise sales. The Attendant works under the supervision of the Head and Assistant Golf Professionals.

Essential Functions

• Meets and greets members and guests in a friendly, professional manner, exemplifying the highest level of customer service and care.
• Opens and closes the Golf Shop.
• Responds to incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, always leaving a favorable first impression.
• Provides golf course information to the public via telephone and in person.
• Operates point-of-sale (POS) system which includes processing cash and charge payments, issuing receipts and maintaining records of daily transactions.
• Registers golfers according to tee time schedule and collects appropriate fees from members and guests.
• Coordinates with Country Club Golf Attendants to maintain a consistent level of cart availability and to ensure members and guests are conforming to the rules of the Country Club.
• Communicates regularly with Country Club Golf Attendants regarding all changes to the tee sheet or any updates that need to be addressed.
• Works with Merchandiser to ensure that the overall appearance of the Golf Shop is uniformly maintained in an organized and attractive manner.
• Assists in the ordering, receiving, stocking and selling of merchandise.
• Respects standard protocol in handling money efficiently and accurately, paying close attention when dealing with cash transactions.
• Reports member and guest complaints promptly to Golf Professional staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED.
• Previous experience in a customer service capacity with preference for having worked in a golf course setting.
• Experience with cash register operations and point of sale (POS) systems.
• Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on exemplary telephone etiquette.
• Ability to understand basic math functions as well as to understand, follow and transmit written and/or oral instructions.
• Some familiarity with golf operations or the game of golf.
• Ability to work well under pressure, manage time and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public at large.
• Must be able to work a fluctuating schedule during the week and/or weekend, inclusive of holidays.
  
  

Physical/Environmental Requirements

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in daily work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, kneeling and walking and may include some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (at least 20 pounds).

Environmental Requirements

Work is usually performed in a retail shop setting with infrequent exposure to adverse environmental factors.
