Sarasota Arthritis Center is a well-established, single specialty practice with multiple locations across Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Since 1977, the practice has been dedicated to providing specialized care in the treatment of inflammatory arthritis, mixed connective tissue diseases, and other rheumatologic conditions. With 8 Board Certified Rheumatologists and 3 Advanced Practice Providers on staff, the Center offers a wide range of services including access to three infusion suites, a laboratory, radiology department, and clinical research. Patients are cared for in outpatient facilities located in Sarasota, Bradenton, and Venice.
About the role
This position is responsible for coordinating and providing clinical care to patients through administration of infusion therapies on an outpatient basis under direct supervision of a physician or other qualified medical professional.
What you'll do
- Receives patients, explains procedures, checks vital signs, and administers therapy, monitors reactions, and reports to physicians.
- Prepares, administers, and documents biologic and specialty infusions in accordance with provider orders, protocol, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Recognizes, responds to, and escalates infusion reactions or adverse events in alignment with SAC protocols.
- Maintains proficiency in IV insertion, venipuncture, and vascular access management.
- Receives orders from physicians and schedules appointments for patients.
- Provides care in emergency situations (with outside assistance) if required. Communicates with covering physician.
- Unpacks and logs medical supplies, medications and re-stocks areas as needed.
- Prepares for appointments making sure all appropriate labs, prior infusion flowsheets, imaging are completed and in patient chart
- Appropriately interacts with patients, providers, and other staff
- Documents all interactions, communications with patients, plan of treatment (POT), and billing codes accurately in patient charts.
- Performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and those assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with state licensure required.
- At least 3 years of clinical experience with training in infusion therapy
- BLS/CPR certified
- Knowledge of medical office systems and procedures, EMR, and state laws
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 pounds periodically
