SARAH Tuxis Residential Services is seeking full time and part time Direct Support Professionals for all locations serving Branford, North Brand, Guilford, Madison and Clinton.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote mental stimulation and socialization
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and any incidents in accordance with privacy regulations
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required or highly desirable ($100 sign on bonus available)
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate medical equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient monitors
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities or health challenges
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
