Job Summary
We are seeking multiple compassionate and energetic IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) Direct Support Professionals to join our dedicated team. Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using tools such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Support residents with DDS medication administration and monitor vital signs to ensure health and safety.
- Help with meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining nutritional needs aligned with individual plans.
- Provide companionship and facilitate social activities that promote engagement, communication, and emotional well-being.
- Document progress, behaviors, and health updates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems; communicate effectively with team members and healthcare providers.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support positive behaviors and address challenging situations compassionately.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident areas and shared spaces.
- Support residents during outings or community activities, including driving when required, ensuring safety at all times.
- Use assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs safely during transfers and mobility assistance.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes or home & community care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s care), memory care needs or senior care is essential.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring are strongly desirable; willingness to obtain necessary certifications upon hire is required.
- Experience working with EMR systems for documentation purposes is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to perform personal care tasks safely while maintaining dignity and respect for residents.
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents or transportation duties; clean driving record preferred.
- Strong communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude toward caregiving challenges.
