About the Sarah Parker Remond Elementary School:

The newly merged Sarah Parker Remond Elementary School will open on July 1, 2026, bringing together the Carlton Innovation School and Saltonstall Elementary into Salem’s largest and most dynamic elementary community, serving nearly 500 students in the vibrant Point neighborhood. Led by Principal Bethann Jellison and Associate Principal Lauren Weaver, the school blends the best of both communities—Carlton’s innovative, student-centered model and Saltonstall’s strong instructional practices—to create a forward-thinking environment grounded in collaboration, continuous progress, and data-informed teaching. Teachers will join a supportive, team-based structure with multiple educators per grade level, expanded student supports, and opportunities for leadership and creativity through flexible staffing, curriculum autonomy, and embedded coaching. With a focus on a “Core More” instructional model, community-based learning connected to Salem’s rich cultural landscape, and meaningful multi-age experiences, Sarah Parker Remond Elementary offers educators a unique opportunity to be part of building an inclusive, innovative school designed to meet diverse student needs while shaping the future of teaching and learning.
