Job Summary
The Environmental Services Manager leads the daily operations, coordination, and supervision of the Environmental Services Department. This role ensures all administrative and environmental services functions are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The position places a strong focus on quality, safety, employee engagement, and exceptional service throughout the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop Environmental Services team members, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Oversee daily operations to maintain a consistently clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment.
- Establish and uphold departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards aligned with best practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, and IDPH guidelines.
- Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage inventory, equipment, and supply processes to support efficient operations.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to support operational needs.
- Promote a culture of safety, service excellence, and employee engagement.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to organizational planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Lead by example, reinforcing professionalism, teamwork, and pride in work.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in environmental services, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- High School Diploma Does this job require a Diploma or would a GED suffice?
- 2 years of supervisory experience in environmental services or related field.
- Experience in healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) credential preferred.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
