What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Network Engineer position at Saragossa?
Network Engineer - Proprietary Trading Firm
You get to own the network at one of Chicago's most technically sophisticated trading firms, without being boxed into a lane.
You’ll join a proprietary trading firm built around systematic and quantitative strategies. The team trades across global markets using statistical models, data analysis, and technology to find and exploit opportunities at speed. Market making, capital allocation, automated execution. This is a high-performance environment where the network is not a support function, it is a competitive advantage.
You are working hybrid out of the Chicago office, hands-on with the infrastructure that keeps latency-sensitive trading systems running. You are routing, switching, and solving real problems that actually matter to the business. Working with a global team but in a standalone network engineering role within Chicago, you’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, own your work, and see the impact of what you build.
Multicast is at the core of what you are doing here. If you have deep experience managing multicast traffic in a trading or financial environment, this is where that knowledge gets put to serious use. You are also working across BGP and OSPF, managing complex routing environments, and supporting systems where milliseconds count.
This is not a role where you are one of twenty engineers doing the same thing. You are trusted, you are visible, and your decisions carry weight.
You bring strong networking and switching fundamentals, solid BGP and OSPF experience, a genuine command of multicast, and a background working in financial services or a similarly demanding environment. That last part matters here.
