Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle ODA / Data Warehouse Consultant with deep expertise in enterprise data modeling, Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) administration, and large-scale BI/DW environments. The ideal candidate brings a unique blend of Oracle DBA mastery, DW/ETL engineering, and enterprise data architecture skills to support mission-critical analytical and reporting workloads.
This role will take ownership of ODA platform operations, data warehouse architecture, performance tuning, ETL/ELT pipelines, and business-facing solution delivery across the data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle ODA & Database Administration
- Administer, patch, and maintain Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) systems and associated Oracle databases across production and DR environments.
- Lead performance tuning, storage optimization, indexing strategy, and capacity planning for large and complex data warehouse workloads.
- Architect, validate, and maintain backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and ODA-native tools.
- Conduct ODA environment audits and deliver stabilization reports with prioritized remediation recommendations.
Enterprise Data Warehouse Architecture
- Design and implement logical and physical data models supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, and BI platforms.
- Apply deep DW modeling expertise including star/snowflake schemas, SCD types (1/2/3), and fact/dimension design best practices.
- Optimize data models and indexing strategies for the top performance-critical queries.
ETL / ELT Data Engineering
- Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines, including orchestration, performance optimization, and deployment management.
- Develop runbooks, deployment checklists, and automation scripts for consistent and scalable delivery.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust DW solutions.
Platform Operations & Governance
- Enforce SDLC, ITIL, change management, release processes, and incident workflows.
- Support on-call rotations, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis for DW/ODA ecosystems.
- Produce detailed architecture diagrams, operational documentation, knowledge-transfer materials, and failover procedures.
- Assist in data migration and modernization initiatives (on-prem ↔ cloud; Oracle → cloud DW platforms).
Modernization & Automation
- Support integration efforts with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, OCI, Azure Synapse, and others.
- Use automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform) to streamline deployments and environment management.
- Automate RMAN verification, environment health checks, and monitoring processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Data Warehousing roles with increasing responsibility.
- 5 years of hands-on Oracle Database and Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) administration, including installation, patching, RAC/AH configuration, RMAN, and performance tuning.
- Deep expertise in dimensional data modeling (star/snowflake schemas), SCD 1/2/3, and enterprise data architecture.
- 5 years working in Data Warehouse/BI environments, including requirement analysis, schema design, ETL/ELT orchestration, and production support.
- Strong command of SQL, PL/SQL, partitioning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with integration across major DW platforms: Oracle Exadata, ODA, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for backup/recovery, high-availability, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience in cloud migration of Oracle-based DW workloads (OCI, AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools: Informatica, Talend, ODI, DataStage, Airflow, or similar.
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data catalog tools.
- Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or DW/BI certifications preferred.
