Job Summary
As a Respiratory Therapist you will work closely with residents of our Skilled Nursing facility in the first vent unit in Oregon. The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides specialized respiratory care and clinical support to residents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. This role ensures the safe and effective delivery of respiratory treatments, ventilator and oxygen management, and pulmonary rehabilitation within a skilled nursing environment. The Respiratory Therapist collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal respiratory function, comfort, and recovery for each resident.

Job Summary
As a Respiratory Therapist you will work closely with residents of our Skilled Nursing facility in the first vent unit in Oregon. The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides specialized respiratory care and clinical support to residents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. This role ensures the safe and effective delivery of respiratory treatments, ventilator and oxygen management, and pulmonary rehabilitation within a skilled nursing environment. The Respiratory Therapist collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal respiratory function, comfort, and recovery for each resident.
Responsibilities
- Assists with new admissions.
- Perform and document respiratory assessments, including breath sounds, oxygen saturation, airway patency, and response to therapy.
- Administer prescribed respiratory treatments such as nebulizer therapy, chest physiotherapy, and aerosolized medications.
- Manage and monitor residents requiring ventilator support, CPAP/BiPAP, and supplemental oxygen.
- Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory equipment and ensure it is functioning safely and effectively.
- Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary rounds to discuss respiratory status and goals of care.
- Provide education and training to nursing staff on respiratory equipment, emergency procedures, and infection control.
- Assist with weaning protocols and pulmonary rehabilitation programs when applicable.
- Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policy, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and equipment sterilization standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and compassionate care.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Active NBRC Credentials.
- Active Oregon Respiratory Care Practitioner state licensure.
- Active BLS Certification.
- Strong understanding of geriatric care and the needs of elderly residents.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Compassionate, patient-focused, and empathetic approach to care.
