Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer 

Location: Reston, VA

Purpose and Objective:   

SAP America, Inc. seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer at our Reston, VA location to be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of customer environments in Cloud of respective product lines and ensures the delivery according to defined Service Level Agreements.  

Expectations and Tasks:  

Leverage knowledge in various technologies (e.g. database, platform) used by development and operations. Define automation framework and drive automation and standardization. Ensure smooth operations and maximize uptime. Define the product delivery roadmap to bring it into production Execute technical tasks to ensure efficient delivery of system landscape support core tasks in the assigned functional areas of responsibility. Responsible for independent assurance of effective system operations along the software lifecycle. Support knowledge management in the team and between operations and development. Ensure excellent quality and maintain high standards in all processes listed in the relevant process map Understand and improve current effort and cost structure of system/tenant operations (TCO) Contribute to operations model/operational processes and procedures. Partner support and cooperation Support field, account executives, consultants on stakeholder management and delivery Responsible for Project / Program management. 

Education and Occupational Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and six years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and four years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:  

Experience must involve four years in the following:  

• Gardener Kubernetes; 

• AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, EC2, S3, Lambda, and Kubernetes; 

• Terraform; 

• Continuous integration and delivery/deployment (CI/CD) tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps; 

• Git and GitOps practices for infrastructure and application versioning; 

• Docker and Kubernetes, including managing containers, scaling applications, and orchestration in production environments; 

• Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or New Relic for system performance monitoring, log aggregation, and observability; 

• Scripting in Bash, Python, and Ruby to automate routine tasks, processes, and system configurations; 

• Network architectures, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices, including encryption, SSL/TLS, and identity management; 

• MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Cassandra for infrastructure management and optimization; and 

• Cloud security protocols and best practices.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $173,763 - $200,200. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $173,763 - $227,500. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance. Salary : $173,763 - $227,500
