Entry Level Service Technician & Yard Attendant
The Entry-Level Service Technician is responsible for assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy machinery. Under the supervision of experienced technicians, this role provides hands-on training and an introduction to the technical skills required in the construction equipment industry. This will also include operation of Heavy Construction Equipment, loading and unloading heavy haul trailers, washing and maintaining equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on construction equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, greasing, and cleaning machinery.
- Support in conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used equipment.
- Learn to use diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and computer-based service software.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in the shop and yard.
- Accurately complete service reports and time records.
- Participate in on-the-job and manufacturer training programs to develop technical knowledge and certifications.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a service vehicle and its inventory.
- Process paperwork after completion of each job.
Professional Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational school preferred).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in construction or heavy equipment.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic power tools.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand, bend, and work in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience working on vehicles, farm equipment, or small engines (even as a hobby).
- Familiarity with diesel engines, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
- Basic computer skills for service documentation.
Professional Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree is a bonus
