Summary of Position:
The Fiber Utility Technician is a versatile role responsible for the end-to-end installation of fiber optic infrastructure. This position covers the full lifecycle of fiber deployment, from heavy underground construction (directional drilling and plowing) to precision fiber splicing and final Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) installation. The technician ensures the physical placement of conduit, navigates underground utilities, and provides a seamless connection from the network backbone directly to the subscriber's home.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- No experience necessary; training will be provided.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform manual labor (lifting, digging, climbing).
- Extended working hours, including weekends and "on call" rotations, are required.
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with the ability to meet Pueblo insurance requirements.
- Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check and new hire drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in directional drilling, underground utility construction, or fiber splicing.
- Certification in fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, and terminating Cat6/RJ45 cables.
- Experience with rock boring procedures and managing specialized tooling.
