Position Description
Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains Coal Pile Runoff, Low Volume Waste, FGD Fines Dewatering, and other wastewater system process equipment.
Must be able to work rotating shifts.
Must be well-versed and knowledgeable of all applicable CCR and ELG waste water regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations of the waste water treatment facilities.
This position requires a South Carolina Class "C" Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license.
Essential Job Tasks:
Treat multiple wastewater streams using physical chemical processes to meet all CCR and ELG Rule standards. This job task includes monitoring and adjusting chemical dosages and flows based on wastewater conditions, regulatory requirements, and laboratory testing.
Maintain inventories of chemicals, supplies, and equipment to ensure adequate on-hand quantities for operation.
Coordinate day-to-day operations with Results Lab, Operations, and Gypsum Dewatering departments with regards to generating unit dispatch, planned maintenance activities, wastewater quality, and sludge processing.
Collect and analyze process and regulatory wastewater samples. Maintain lab bench sheets, log book records, and monitor all wastewater treatment instrumentation for multiple streams. Record necessary process readings to monitor equipment performance and compare to expected performance.
Operate equipment such as pumps, valves, remote submerged scraper conveyors, aeration basins, clarifiers, thickeners, filter belt presses, etc. as needed in order to effectively treat various wastewater sources. Expected to advise Supervisor when emergency situations arise.
Execute plant start-ups/ shut downs, filter maintenance, chemical unloading/ handling, and equipment calibrations. Assist maintenance section as needed when not required on operations duty to maintain high level of productivity and economical operations.
Monitor process equipment and facilities conditions - troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and write work orders for maintenance and repair work. Rack electrical breakers and open/ close electrical disconnects for daily operation and LOTO (lockout tagout) clearance purposes.
Maintain and clean equipment in regularly assigned areas to ensure reliable operation and clean equipment.
Develop in-depth knowledge of station wastewater systems to ensure ability to operate effectively in emergency situations and increase station reliability. Expected to train and assist coworkers as required.

High school diploma/GED with additional technical courses related to water plant operations/maintenance 10 years directly related experience or Associate's degree in technical or science related discipline 6 years directly related experience required.
Must possess a South Carolina Class "B" Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license.
Compensation Information
$32.65 - $40.80 (min.-mid.)
Waste Water Operator B
High school diploma/GED with additional technical courses related to water plant operations/maintenance 6 years directly related experience or Associate's degree in technical or science related discipline 4 years directly related experience required.
Must possess a South Carolina Class "C" Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license.
Compensation Information
$26.45 - $33.05 (min. - mid.)
Waste Water Operator C
High school diploma/GED required.
Associate's degree in a science related field preferred.
Must obtain a South Carolina Trainee Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license upon hire.
Must obtain a South Carolina Class "D" Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license within one year from date of hire.

$21.55 - $26.90 (min. - mid)
