The position leads a team of engineers and technical staff responsible for delivering the protection and control engineering and design components of electrical substations. Essential Job Tasks
- DIRECT ENGINEERING FOR MAJOR SUBSTATION CAPITAL PROJECTS (40%): Oversee conceptual design, relay and protection strategies, consultant reviews, engineering, and constructability reviews for high‑value substation projects. Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with codes and standards. Provide technical guidance on protection and control engineering design, material selection, and system integration.
- LEAD, DEVELOP & MENTOR PROTECTION & CONTROL ENGINEERING TEAM (20%): Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and performance management for engineers and technical staff. Build team capabilities through training, technical development, and succession planning. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and high‑quality engineering execution.
- DRIVE CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION THROUGHOUT PROJECT (20%): Coordinate closely with project management, planning, operations and construction teams to ensure project engineering readiness. Support procurement activities, including technical evaluations. Represent engineering in project meetings and stakeholder reviews.
- PROVIDE ENGINEERING SUPPORT DUING CONSTRUCTION (20%): Partner with field personnel and external consultants to resolve design issues during construction, respond to RFIs, and ensure engineering intent is maintained. Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities as needed. Ensure construction support activities uphold safety, quality, and compliance expectations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college 8 years experience required.
- PE license required.
