Assists in the construction, operation and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution facilities to provide reliable electric service to customers.
Essential Job Tasks:
- Uses appropriate licenses, training certifications and basic skills to safely perform required tasks associated with overhead and underground distribution line installations and repairs under direct supervision.
- Determines best and most correct set-up for work zones and puts appropriate traffic devices in place.
- Assists in the construction, operation and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution facilities to provide reliable electric service to customers.
- Develops, demonstrates, and applies knowledge of the safety manual in all work performed.
- Conducts job site safety briefings.
- Attends and participates in all Santee Cooper apprenticeship and mandatory training requirements each year as determined by the task manual, management and OSHA.
- Uses communication skills to exchange information.
- Performs essential duties to support unit operations to include general housekeeping, maintenance of fleet and warehouse stock, upkeep and maintenance of fleets, general care of tools and other duties as assigned.
- Performs high voltage switching on distribution and substations with direct supervision.
- Will consider Line Technician A, B or C
Line Technician A
- High School Diploma/GED 5 years experience required.
- Must maintain pole top rescue re-certification annually, therefore, maximum body weight cannot exceed the equipment rating minus the weight of associated work tools and equipment.
- Pole climbing proficiency required within six months after employment.
- Must have CDL-Class A license with fifth wheel endorsement.

Line Technician B
- High School Diploma/GED 2 years experience required.
- Must maintain pole top rescue re-certification annually, therefore, maximum body weight cannot exceed the equipment rating minus the weight of associated work tools and equipment.

Line Technician C
